Privacy Policy

What we collect
- Apple ID identifier & email — when you sign in with Apple. Email is optional via Apple's relay; we never see your real address unless you choose to share.
- Step counts — read from Apple Health, only for the period after you grant access. We do not import historical steps.
- Journey state — which locations you've started, completed, abandoned, or unlocked. Stored against your Apple ID identifier.
- Purchase records — Apple in-app purchase transaction IDs, used for delivering and not double-granting unit purchases.
What we don't collect
- Your name, address, phone, contacts, photos, or location.
- Any health data other than step count.
- Tracking identifiers for advertising.
- Behavioral analytics across other apps or websites.
How we use it
- App functionality — converting steps into journey progress, awarding units, syncing your state across devices.
- Account management — keeping your data tied to your Apple ID so you can sign in on a new phone.
- Purchase fulfillment — verifying Apple receipts and granting the units you bought.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or selling to
third parties. Period.
Where it lives
Your data is stored in Amazon Web Services (DynamoDB, in the United
States). It is encrypted at rest and in transit. Access to the
production database is limited to a small number of operators.
Third parties
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, App Store in-app purchases, HealthKit. Apple's privacy policy applies to data they handle.
- Google — when you choose Sign in with Google as an alternate sign-in.
- AWS — hosts our backend. Standard cloud infrastructure provider; they do not access app data.
We do not share your data with anyone else.
Your rights
- Access — in the Jornis app, go to
Settings → Privacy → Export my data to receive a copy of your account and progress as JSON. You can also email admin@jornis.app.
- Deletion — in the Jornis app, go to
Settings → Privacy → Delete account. This permanently erases your account, journey progress, and all units (earned and purchased). Purchases are non-refundable. You can also email admin@jornis.app; we respond within 7 days.
- Revoke health access — at any time via
iPhone Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Jornis.
Children
Jornis is rated 4+ but is not directed at children under 13 in a way
that would collect identifying information from them. Apple Sign-In
and HealthKit are both gated by Apple ID + parental controls.
Changes
If we change this policy materially we'll notify you in-app before
the new policy takes effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of
this page is always current.
